EL MATADOR BEACH - FILM SHOOT

For the last ten years of my photography business, I've been solely a digital photographer.  I absolutely love digital, but I've also always had such a huge passion and appreciation for the timeless, romantic beauty that film delivers.  Even when looking for our wedding photographer I knew I wanted a film photographer and we are beyond lucky that we had KT Merry document our big day, which lead my obsession to film to grow even ten times more. I've been shooting film on and off the last few years but in order to feel comfortable as a hybrid photographer (shooting both film and digital), I felt there is always room to grow and a lot more to learn!

Then, I met Melanie Osorio at a shoot downtown LA and I just loooved her work.  I asked her if she'd be interested in doing a little one-on-one film photo sesh with me to answer any questions I still had about film.  I really wanted to dive into film full throttle and knew this was the best way to do it, so I was ecstatic when she said yes. She set up this stunning engagement sesh at El Matador Beach in Malibu and we shot straight film for the last few hours of sunlight, all while answering any questions I still had about film.  Melanie suggested I only bring my Mamiya so as hard as it was - this was my first session with ZERO DIGITAL IMAGES!  I usually shoot both digital and film so I was completely out of my comfort zone but I am SO happy I allowed myself to focus on just film because I gained so much knowledge, experience and so much inspiration to keep shooting film. The result was just magical and I am SO excited to share these images! Thank you, Melanie for your friendship and mentoring! Shot with Mamiya 645 AFD ii and Fuji400H, scans by Photovision.

FACEBOOK HISPANICIZE LA

I can't express in words how much I love, love, loooovvveee shooting events like this! Working with Team A2E and Facebook is always a blast!  Mix that with a room full of strong, powerful, inspiring Latino trendsetters at the Hispanicize LA event and you have a dream day of amazing moments to capture.  From the custom Facebook Marketplace backdrop to the celebrity attendees like Scrub's Judy Reyes, HTGWM's Karla Souza, Transformer's Isabella Moner, soccer player Mariano Trujillo, actress Kate Del Castillo and even Flava Flav - it was beyond an inspiring day to capture.

NYC METROPOLITAN BUILDING BRIDAL EDITORIAL

When dreaming up of this bridal shoot, my goal was to take advantage of one of the many unique venues that NYC has to offer.  The second I walked into the Metropolitan building and saw the romantic gold trim walkways and perfectly faded blue walls, I was done scouting.  It was the perfect backdrop for our boho meets romance feel of the shoot.

These vendors were an absolute dream to work with.  We wanted to create some really heavenly images which the intricate lace details on the Christos gown and the flow in the Sarah Seven dress from Lovely Bride really delivered.

The floral arrangements from Designs by Ahn were absolutely breathtaking!  We wanted something that would fit the romantic aesthetic while remaining in that neutral colored bohemian style, really taking advantage of all the color the Metropolitan Building has to offer.  The hints of purple in the floral garland stood out so beautifully when draping it into the couch, it was definitely one of my favorite styles that we went with.  These vendors were the perfect team to really nail the meaning of "dreamy".

Shot with a mix of Fuji 400 and Portra 400 on Mamiya 645 AFD II, AND Canon 5D Mark III.
